My work tends to be very eclectic. A new friend visited my studio and he said that he didn’t understand how I could make so many different styles of paintings. The best I can answer this is that I just like to make things that I want hanging on the walls in my home. Most of my paintings have at least one companion piece – the image is only one side of a conversation with another painting.
I sometimes create in “series”. A series of ladies in hats, a series of burning into wood using only a few colors, a series of my favorite painters having a conversation with one another with me and good food and good wine and great conversation. Some paintings are small and precious little gems, some are giant looming images, most are “brain dumps”; I take in what I can and then pour it out as best I can.
I get “hits” of feelings, intentions, images … and then I just go. Please know that if a painting here has a companion somewhere in the world, you purchase the painting then you are now connected to that person by that painting. Connected by art. Enjoy!
In addition to painting, I work in a brewery – where I find a lot materials to re-purpose, I’m also an actor, a writer, and a director. I am an adjunct professor in theatre and film at UNM and CNM.
