I have been building home furnishings and decor for the past several decades and enjoy having that one-of-a-kind product as well as the planning and building process involved. My dad had a workshop which I used as a teenager and became comfortable with tools and materials at a relatively early age which got me started with this lifelong interest in building things.
Upon my retirement in 2019 from the IT field, it made sense for me to explore this hobby as a business idea. My business focuses upon the use of copper as a key element in design. Copper has been a material which I prefer to include because of its ease of forming and distinctive patina variations, as well as widespread appeal.
Walking along trails in New Mexico and observing the landscape provides inspiration to help visualize new designs. The repetition of pattern, such as that seen in the structure of the common prickly pear cactus, got my attention to find a way to reproduce that in the form of copper wall art.
My goal is to come up with a handful of core products which I can focus on to fully develop in terms of color, texture, and other variations in finishing techniques.
