Yolanda Howren Jones
Mixed Media Artist
Yolanda Howren Jones is a New Mexico artist who resides in Rio Rancho. Born on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, her family relocated to Taos, New Mexico in 1968, and she has called New Mexico home ever since. Her time in Taos sparked her interest in art, and it was then she was “bitten by the art bug”.
Art has since been her passion and she is truly inspired by the enchanting Southwest. This is where she finds the beauty and love to whimsically paint subjects such as the historic adobe churches, sugar skulls, crows, owls and other birds and farm animals, flowers, teacups, old cars and trucks, just to name a few. The medium she chooses to use is mostly acrylic paint on canvas. Yolanda’s work has been showcased and featured at various coffee shops, restaurants and galleries in Albuquerque, Corrales, and Madrid, New Mexico.
In 2022, she was nominated by Ricochet Gallery and was selected, along with six other local artists as a “Local Treasure”. It was presented by the Albuquerque Art & Business Association, and presented at the Albuquerque Museum.
